St. Louis – Carrying a sign that reads, “Unions make us ALL equal,” members of Missouri Women in Trades (MoWIT) proudly marched in this year’s PrideFest Parade on June 25 in downtown St. Louis, eliciting widespread cheers and support from the energetic crowds (top photo).

The group also had a booth at this year’s celebration (bottom photo) at which visitors could learn more about the organization and union apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs in the area. Several MoWIT members manned the booth, including (from left) Ironworkers Local 396 member Sierra Fox, Laborers Local 110 member Kathy Russell and IBEW Local 1 member Tiffany Jones.

Volunteers also collected signatures for the Citizens’ Referendum petition to repeal the so-called “right-to-work” by placing the issue on the ballot for voters to decide, and the CLEAN Missouri initiative to limit the power of big money in the state legislature. – Labor Tribune photos
