Washington – St. Louis-area teachers Ruth Knop of Parkway West High School and Kathleen Dwyer of Maplewood Richmond Heights High School were each honored recently with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
“Ruth and Kathleen have made outstanding and innovative contributions to their students, schools, and communities,” said Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO. “I’m proud to congratulate them both on this tremendous accomplishment, and for helping inspire young Missourians to get excited and engaged in the critical fields of math and science.”
Each year, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science is awarded to outstanding K-12 math and science teachers from across the country. Winners receive a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation and are invited to Washington, D.C. to attend an awards ceremony.
