Florissant β Ironworkers Local 396 is bannering Poettker Construction at the new Walmart development here in the 3500 block of North Lindbergh Boulevard for using non-union ironworkers, roofers and electricians to get the low bid for the project. Poettker, of Breese, IL, has generally used union subcontractors for its work in Illinois, Local 396 Business Manager Tom McNeil said, but chose to go non-union for its work in Missouri. By contrast, McNeil said, St. Louis-based S.M. Wilson & Co., used union subcontractors on itβs bid for the Walmart Supercenter in Shrewsbury.

SM Wilson will be utilizing non-union subs on the Shrewsbury project.
SM Wilson has also decided to utilize non-union ironworkers, electricians, and roofers on this job but has paid them off on other jobs to keep it quiet.
SM Wilson will be utilizing local 57 electrician union on Shrewsbury who will also be doing Florissant.
