Finally, someone is praising the leadership of the working class.
The AFL-CIO recently sponsored a national cable television ad buy that ran through Labor Day showing how America’s workers have answered the call to lead in the face of a failed federal government response to pandemic, economic crisis and racial unrest.
“When our leaders played politics in a crisis and left our communities out to dry—America’s workers led. Keeping America running, taking care of fellow Americans, delivering food relief, fighting for people’s rights and holding our government accountable,” the ad stresses proudly.
“America faces crises on three critical fronts: a public health pandemic, an economic free fall and long-standing structural racism. As America’s Labor Movement, we must urgently address all three with precision and purpose because they cannot be fixed separately,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, announcing the national ad campaign.
“Nothing will interrupt our work or interfere with our promise to uplift the hopes and aspirations of working people,” added Trumka. “Together, we will continue to pursue our movement’s mission of social, racial and economic justice, especially as America enters the homestretch of this election.”
