Bread & Roses Missouri has received a $15,000 program grant from the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission.

The funding will be used to support Bread & Roses’ upcoming production of “1877” by Collin McLaughlin, a new play about 50,000 workers and five days that galvanized the Labor Movement in St. Louis.

“We are thrilled and grateful to receive the grant,” the group wrote on its Facebook page. “Thanks to Regional Arts Commission for supporting this important play with music that weaves St. Louis history with Labor Movement history to tell a story that resonates today.”

The play will be held at the Missouri History Museum’s Lee Auditorium Nov. 16 to 19. Tickets will be available soon.
