Campaign training session Aug. 26

Fairview Heights, IL – Bill Houlihan, state director for U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, will lead a free training session for Democratic activists, “How to Be an Asset for Your Candidate,” from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Houlihan, from Chicago, started out as an organizer for the Illinois Education Association, then worked as an assistant to Illinois Senate President Phil Rock and in 1993 was named director of downstate offices for U.S. Senator Carol Moseley-Braun. He now oversees operations at Durbin’s four district offices.

Southwestern Illinois Democratic Women is sponsoring the event, saying “Are you passionate about a candidate but don’t know how to help? Or maybe you are ready to join the team and want to make sure you can be the best advocate for the message.”

The event will be at the Illinois Federation of Teachers office at 4 Executive Drive in Fairview Heights. For more information, send an email to swillinoisdemwomen@gmail.com.
