David E. Casson, Jr. a retired Boilermaker from Local 27, St. Louis, and the son of the late David Casson, former business manager/secretary-treasurer of Local 27 and former National Transient Division representative, has been elected to serve as the 109th Potentate of Ainad Temple, East St Louis, covering much of southern Illinois. He also serves on the board of directors for the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Southern Illinois.

Casson’s brother Jeff also retired from Local 27, his brother Bennie was in Local 27, his brother Daryl retired from Laborers Local 42 and his brother Frank is a retired educator.

As he grew up with the trade, he witnessed many men of good character wearing unfamiliar jewelry. When he asked about the items, he soon became aware of Shrine/Masonry and started his journey in the craft. After many years as a Shriner/Mason, he was asked to join the Divan of Ainad Temple, and seven years later was elected Potentate.

Throughout the years, he has worked in many positions with major boilermaker companies. With Babcock & Wilcox Construction Co., Akron, Ohio, he worked in supervisory roles on several major projects and as a safety representative. He also served in the safety department for Scheck Industries of Willowbrook, Ill.

He is proud to be a union member from a union family and also a proud member of Shriners International. He can be contacted at dcassonjr@yahoo.com.
