Florissant, MO – The concrete work at the new Florissant Archery Range at Sunset Park here is complete bringing it one step closer to opening to the public.

The range is being built by volunteers of the Union Sportmen’s Alliance and unions belonging to the St. Louis Building & Construction Trades Council. Phase 1 of the project includes an elevated tower, concrete shooting line and 14 targets ranging from 20 to 60 yards.

“We are really pleased with the progression of the range,” said Sam Phipps, conservation programs manager for the alliance and a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562. “As of today, we have all the concrete in the ground. The next step is to construct the elevated tower, install target shelters and targets and safety barriers and signage.”

Building trades unions and partners involved with the project include the Missouri Sportsmen’s Alliance, Missouri American Water, Cement Masons Local 527, Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562, UWUA Local 335 and Insulators Local 1.
