The 43rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Awards dinner scheduled for Jan.17, sponsored by the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) St. Louis Chapter has been canceled.

President Jay Ozier informed the Labor Tribune as presstime Monday that dramatically increasing cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant prompted the CBTU-St. Louis executive board to cancel the event rather than create a situation where the infection might spread. The dinner will be postponed until 2023.

“This is the St. Louis Chapter’s 50th anniversary so we’re talking about a special anniversary event sometime later this year. That will be under discussion,” he said.
