The Desloge Labor Parade and Picnic has been around for over 30 years. Ironically enough, it has always been sponsored by the Desloge Chamber of Commerce.
Labor has always played a part, mostly in the parade.
This year the Mineral Area Labor Legislative Club decided to take advantage of the opportunity to educate some of the 10,000 plus patrons.
The Labor Club had a right-to-work (RTW) banner made, which led the Labor groups in the parade. Union members handed out RTW educational literature at a booth throughout the weekend and during the parade.
Pro-worker state representatives Reps Kevin Engler (R-Farmington), Linda Black (R-Park Hills), Elaine Gannon (R-DeSoto) Paul Fitzwater (R-Potosi) also walked with Labor in the parade.
