More cannabis workers in Missouri are seeking union representation through United Food and Commercial Workers Local 655. Employees at Terrabis Dispensary in O’Fallon, Mo. submitted their petition for a union election to the National Labor Relations Board on Friday, June 9.

The filing marks the latest in a string of union elections at cannabis facilities since the industry became legal in Missouri. UFCW Local 655 remains the only Labor organization that has won elections at cannabis dispensaries in Missouri.

“We’re hearing from these workers every day,” said UFCW Local 655 President David Cook. “This is a multi-billion dollar industry and these workers want a piece of the pie, and fair treatment at work.”

UFCW Local 655 has already won elections at three dispensaries in Missouri in the last year, and is holding a fourth election at a facility in Columbia, Mo. next week. After a recent day of action aimed at engaging with more cannabis workers, organizers at Local 655 reported that numerous campaigns are progressing at multiple locations.

UFCW represents the overwhelming majority of union cannabis workers across the country as the industry continues to grow.

UFCW Local 655 is the largest union in the State of Missouri. We represent some 8,500 members working throughout the eastern half of Missouri. Local 655’s members are employed in food stores (its largest single division), shoe manufacturing, packinghouses, distribution centers and a number of miscellaneous plants.
