GLAZIERS LOCAL 513 Business Manager Curt Kimbrell (right) and Organizer/Field Representative John Deeken (left) volunteered their time in the chilly, early morning hours of Feb. 10 for the 23rd annual Hardee’s Rise and Shine for Heat. The event raises money by giving proceeds from sausage biscuits or egg biscuit sandwiches and collections made on the parking lot to Heat Up St. Louis, which offers financial assistance with heating bills. The non-profit was founded in 2000 to help elderly individuals, low-income families and residents with disabilities in Missouri and Illinois with delinquent energy bills. “This is a great cause,” Kimbrell said. “One hundred percent of what we raise is given to Heat Up St. Louis, plus we gave them a $200 check from the union. We put the word out to our contractors to stop by, and some of them pre-ordered for their crews.” – Labor Tribune photo
