Warrenton, MO – IBEW Local 1 has set up banners at two Warrenton businesses for using non-union electrical contractors who pay far below the area standard wages and benefits established by the union.

The businesses – Imo’s Pizza at 609-A Highway 47 and Holiday Inn Express at 1008 N. Highway 47 – are within a half-mile from each other.

IMO’S

Local 1 electricians Sharon Harding (top photo at left) and Terry Jones (right) took the message to the public last week that Imo’s is using Gilmore Electric, a contractor that pays its employees up to 40 percent less in wages and benefits set by Local 1.

The pair passed out fliers urging customers to ask Imo’s why they should pay full price for food when it doesn’t pay the standard price for electrical service. The flier suggested customers call Imo’s at 636-456-3005 and ask for a 40 percent discount on food and demand that the company use a first-rate electrical contractor.

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS

Meanwhile, a half-mile away, Local 1 electricians Rick Dinnella (bottom photo at left) and Mike Cleveland (right) took the same approach at Holiday Inn Express where the company is using Braco Electric, a contractor that pays its employees up to 25 percent less in wages and benefits established by the union.

Dinnella and Cleveland passed out handbills similar to those used at Imo’s and urged potential guests to call Holiday Inn at 636-456-2220 and ask for a 25 percent discount on their stay and demand that the company use a first-rate electrical contractor.
