IBEW Local 1 volunteers turn out for Rebuilding Day to help needy homeowners in St. Louis

Outside GroupOnce again, IBEW Local 1 volunteers turned out en masse Saturday, May 3, for Rebuilding Day in St. Louis, the annual one-day blitz where volunteers make repairs to the homes of low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in the St. Louis Metro area.

This is the 11th year in a row that Local 1 and NECA, which partner to form the St. Louis Electrical Connection, have helped Rebuilding Together improve low-income homes in St. Louis.

A total of 80 journeymen electricians and apprentices turned out for today’s blitz and union contractors provided 25 trucks to help make needed repairs to 27 homes in the St. Louis Metro area.

Inside GroupElectrical contractors participating in today’s event include: American Electric and Data, J. Bathe, M.R. Bathe, Bell, Branson, BRK, Concept, Electric Unlimited, Guarantee, Grasser, Kaiser, Northwest, RJP, Sachs and Schaeffer.

Since 2003, the Electrical Connection has supported Rebuilding Together, donating more than $600,000 in labor and materials to improve 375 homes for elderly and low-income St. Louisans.

Working through the Electrical Connection, Local 1 continues that effort throughout the year, utilizing unemployed IBEW electricians, who are paid through the Electrical Connection, to do the needed work.
