IBEW Local 309 officer and organizer Artie Minor dies

Belleville, IL – Arthur J. “Artie” Minor, 54, of Belleville, a longtime member and officer of IBEW Local 309, died Oct. 22.

Brother Minor was an Inside Wireman for 35 years and had served Local 309 as assistant business manager, organizer and recording secretary.

“Artie possessed a warm and outgoing spirit and was truly a friend to all he met,” Local 309 Business Manager Tim Evans said. “He was instrumental in growing the local’s membership during his time as organizer. He was also a respected trustee to the Health and Welfare fund and was instrumental in starting many benefits we enjoy today. He will be missed by all who met him.”

Brother Minor was known for his active life – running in the Chicago Marathon, skiing in Colorado and fishing, camping and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Virginia (Thompson) Minor.

Survivors include his sister Susan (Mark Leipold); brothers Tim and Dan (Teresa) Minor; nieces and nephews Chelsea, Kelly, Jackie, Anne, Peter and Jane; and numerous friends.
