Ferguson – Let there be light at McCluer South-Berkeley High School… as in a well-lit, state-of-the-art scoreboard.

After years of squinting to make out the score and time clock on an antiquated scoreboard, the school has a new LED digital scoreboard thanks to the IBEW/NECA Electrical Connection partnership. The organization donated the scoreboard, including installation services. The Electrical Connection was saluted by the school before its Oct. 17, 2015 game against Confluence Preparatory Academy, when the new scoreboard was dedicated.

“The Electrical Connection is a great community partner,” said Terry O’Neil, director of facilities at Ferguson Florissant School District. “It was difficult for fans to keep track of the game with the old scoreboard and hard for teams to manage the clock during games because scoreboard’s incandescent lights just weren’t bright enough in daylight. IBEW/NECA really came through for us.”

The scoreboard prominently displays the “McCluer South-Berkeley Bulldogs” name and is mounted outside the end zone for clear viewing anywhere on the field. Its LED digits and indicators will give the school economic power consumption and a long life of usage.   It features a digit clock with a 1/10th of a second display in the last minute of the game and has a multi-sport wireless control feature. NECA contractor Schaeffer Electric Company, Inc installed the board.

“The game experience is so much better with the new scoreboard,” said Steve Lawler, McCluer South – Berkeley High School principal. “I want to personally thank the Electrical Connection leadership and all of its IBEW/NECA members or their generosity. “ The IBEW/NECA Electrical Connection partnership was also saluted at the Oct. 14, 2015 Ferguson-Florissant School Board meeting.
