IN MEMORIAM: IBEW Local 1439’s Robert ‘Bob’ Busby, Sr.

Robert “Bob” E. Busby, Sr., a member of IBEW Local 1439, passed away Dec. 20, 2021 at 84.

Brother Busby, of St. Charles, proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He dedicated many years to Union Electric before retiring after 34 years. Later, he took a job at Manheim St. Louis Auto Auction and was there for 20 years. He was a hard worker and dedicated family man.

He often volunteered for different events at his children’s schools and worked for many years with Cardinal Care. In his free time, he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Browns. He will be remembered for his dedication to putting others first. He was a loving husband, actively involved father and doting grandfather who adored his family.

Brother Busby was the loving husband of over 60 years to Mary (Lawless) Busby; beloved son of the late Albert and Lorine Busby; devoted father of Sheleene “Shelly” (Randy) Christo (nee Busby), and Robert “Bob” (Dori) Busby, Jr.; cherished grandfather of Alexis Christine (Cody Brown) Christo, Clayton Allen Christo, Jude Kailun Busby, and Bennett Shiyi Busby; dear brother of William “Bill” (Helen) Busby; brother-in-law of Mary Arlene Busby and Lynn Busby; uncle, cousin and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine “Christy” Busby; grandchildren, Spencer Thomas Christo and Nicholas Patrick Christo; brothers, Albert “Al” Busby, Jr., and James “Jim” Busby.
