Gregg Barr, of Troy, Ill., passed away on Jan. 20, 2024 at age 61.
Brother Barr had a fulfilling 35-year career as a lineman with IBEW Local 2. He was known for his dedication and hard work in his profession. Outside of work, Gregg had a passion for spoiling his many dogs and grandchildren, as well as his interest in meteorology and Cardinals baseball.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1962, in Riverside, Calif. He was a loving husband to Cheryl (nee Hart) Barr; a devoted father to Evelyn (Kenny) Crowe, Kristen (Eric) Ashcraft Barr and his stepdaughter, Heather (Rey) Mongiovi; and a proud grandfather to Emma, Lucy, Gage, Alex, Aria, Eli, and Noah. He is also survived by his sister, Jodi Barr.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, Billy J. and Marilyn “Sue” (nee Harrison) Barr.
Gregg will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In his memory, contributions can be made to ASPCA or Partners for Pets, organizations that were dear to his heart.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at Troy Methodist Church in Troy. Continued fellowship and Celebration of Gregg’s life followed at Time Out Restaurant and Bar at 111 W. Market St. in Troy.
