John Gerard Mahoney, a member of Laborers Local 110, died April 29, 2022 at age 63. He was visiting the family’s much-loved vacation home in Biloxi, Miss., when he was tragically killed after being struck by a car while crossing Beach Boulevard.

Brother Mahoney, of Hillsboro, Mo., was a proud union laborer for over 30 years, starting in New York as a teen and later moving to Missouri. He enjoyed spending time with his family, music, playing cards, working outdoors and boating. He loved spending every moment with the love of his life, Lisa, his bride of over 27 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Mahoney (nee Struckman); children Jennifer (Jon) Smith, Michael (Brittany) Hornung, Jeffrey Williamson and John and Michael Florey; grandchildren Louis and Stella Smith and Fiona and Oscar Hornung; sisters Carol (Angelo) Zarrelli and Joanne (the late Wayne) Czajkowski; nieces Karen Sullivan, Janna Czajkowski and Lisa Toscano; nephews John (Ines) Zarrelli and Joe Zarrelli; and countless loved ones and friends who will all miss him dearly.

Brother Mahoney was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) and Dorothy (Dottie) Mahoney, of Queens, N.Y., and Louis (Lou) and Elizabeth (Betty) Struckman, of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his baby girl, Dorothy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Mahoney.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The John Mahoney Memorial Fund, 6047 N. Lakeshore Drive, Hillsboro, MO 63050, to benefit his grandchildren.
