IN MEMORIAM: Laborers Local 110’s Steven C. Oppermann

Steven C. Oppermann, a 37-year member of Laborers Local 110, died Sept. 6, 2019, just one week short of his 67th birthday.

Brother Oppermann, of Bonne Terre, Mo., was a former concrete business owner and a concrete laborer with Local 110. He was a U.S. Army veteran who was stationed in Germany during his service. He loved to travel, especially to Jamaica and Mexico, and spent much of his free time outdoors camping, fishing, boating and hunting.

He is survived by children, Kurt and Matt Steen, Amy Oppermann, and Gina Hampshire; his grandchildren and his siblings, Mike (Donna), Dan, Pete (Russ Ann), Tony, Matt and Karen (Joe) Turner.

Brother Oppermann was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Dieckmann, his parents, Conrad and Astrid (nee Grunlund) Oppermann, and his brother, Connie Oppermann.

There will be a visitation Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, from 9 a.m. to noon at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis County followed by a memorial service and interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
