IN MEMORIAM: UFCW Local 655’s Susan Picquet

Susan Jane Picquet of O’Fallon, Mo., passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2024 at the age of 73. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched.

Sister Picquet dedicated 35 years of her life to working at Schnucks Grocery, where she served her community with dedication, integrity, and a friendly smile as a member of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 655. She made a lasting impact on her colleagues and customers, consistently going above and beyond to ensure everyone felt welcomed and appreciated.
Sister Picquet was born on Dec. 22, 1950, in St. Louis to James and Lily Buechler. From a young age, she exhibited a natural sense of honesty and warmth that would become the foundation of her character. Her upbringing instilled in her the values of integrity, love, and empathy that she carried with her throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years Christopher Picquet; four children: Tina (Jamie) Zmaila, Jeffrey (Heather) Mayfield, Samantha (Adam Dunston) Picquet, and James Picquet; 10 grandchildren: Nicholas Weber, Taylor Weber, Molly Mayfield, Kristen Mayfield, Gavin Mayfield, Lily Murray, Carter Dunston, Jake Zmaila, Abby Zmaila, Bailie Hall; and a faithful companion, Dixie the pup.

Sue was also a great sister to two brothers James (Sandy) Buechler and Chris (Suzanne) Buechler, and an amazing Aunt to many.
In addition to her personal and professional accomplishments, Sister Picquet actively participated in the Ft. Zumwalt North Booster Club, investing her time and energy in supporting the students and athletes. She believed in the power of community and the importance of uplifting others.

In honor of her memory, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
