IN MEMORIAM: Vicky Smolik – American Federation of Musicians Local 2-197

Vicky Smolik, longtime president of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) Local 2-197  passed away on Jan. 9, 2024 after a lengthy illness, Jerry Cobetto, secretary-treasurer of AFM Local 98 announced:

“When Vicky was first elected president of Local 2-197 the local had just two CBAs; they now have approximately 40! Vicky was a fierce warrior for musicians and an important voice in AFM international policy. Vicky was also quite active with the St. Louis Labor Council for many years. She will be greatly missed by her AFM siblings, as well as by the St. Louis Council.”
