Abby Stowers, the daughter of Iron Workers Local 396’s Phillip Stowers, Jr., and Amy Stowers, has been awarded the 2021 Godfrey P. Padberg Ironworkers’ Scholarship.

The $10,000 award is awarded to children of Iron Workers Local 396 members by the Padberg, Corrigan & Applebaum Law Firm. Abby is the nineteenth recipient of the scholarship. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Maryville University.

“We recently had the honor of taking Abby to lunch to discuss her career and educational goals and to present the $10,000 award,” the law firm shared on Facebook while wishing her luck. “Abby is grateful to have the support of her parents in her academic endeavors.”

The Padberg, Corrigan & Appelbaum law firm has proudly represented and supported members of Iron Workers Local 396 for more than 50 years. After the passing of Godfrey Padberg, the firm established the Godfrey P. Padberg Ironworkers’ Scholarship to honor him and his relationship with the iron workers. Each year the firm awards a scholarship to a son or daughter of a Local 396 member to aid in furthering his or her education.

Since its inception in 2003, a total of $190,000 in scholarships have been awarded to the children of Local 396 members.
