The 2020 Godfrey P. Padberg Scholarship, donated by the Padberg, Corrigan & Applebaum Law Firm to children of Iron Workers Local 396 members, was awarded to Garret Heibeck, son of Jeff and Rene Heibeck, and the cousin of newly elected union President/Business Agent Mike Heibeck.

The Padberg, Corrigan & Appelbaum law firm has proudly represented and supported members of Iron Workers Local 396 since the early 1960s. After the passing of Godfrey Padberg, the firm established the Godfrey P. Padberg Iron Workers’ Scholarship to honor him and his relationship with the iron workers. Each year the firm awards one $10,000 scholarship to a son or daughter of a Local 396 member to aid in furthering his or her education.

Garret is the eighteenth recipient of the $10,000 scholarship. He will be graduating from the University of Kansas with a master’s degree in architecture.
