Jones hires SEIU’s Desideri as communications director

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones has hired Nick Desideri, the former Chicago-based spokesman Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1 as communications director for the mayor’s office.

His hiring follows the appointment of Nancy Cross, former SEIU Local 1 vice president, as director of operations.

Local 1, one of the region’s largest unions, representing janitors, security officers, higher education faculty, school custodians, food service workers and others in several Midwestern states, was a supporter of Jones’ mayoral campaign.
