Edwardsville – A noted friend of Labor, Anthony Ryan Jumper, has been named Madison County’s newest associate judge by a vote of the Third Judicial Circuit’s elected circuit judges. He replaces Associate Jude Luther Simmons, who retired.

Jumper, an Edwardsville High School graduate, received his law degree in 2005 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he was editor of the Law Journal and the Journal of Legal Medicine. He graduated in 2000 from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.

He first worked at the Thompson Coburn law firm in St. Louis and then as a trial attorney for Nationwide Insurance. Since 2015, he has worked with Callis Papa & Szewcyzk of Granite City, which represents numerous unions.

Jumper has also been a frequent visitor to the Greater Madison County Federation of Labor and is an Edwardsville YMCA board member. Luther Simmons has begun working for Simmons Hanly Conroy of Alton.

Associate judges are chosen on a vote of the circuit’s elected circuit judges. The Third Judicial Circuit includes Madison and Bond counties and has 13 associate judges. Jumper was sworn in March 29.
