Laborers Local 110 is continuing its 13-year tradition of supporting Missouri Jobs with Justice (JwJ) with a $50,000 donation.

Missouri Jobs with Justice is a statewide grassroots coalition of individuals and faith, Labor, student and community groups working together for social, racial and economic justice.

Local 110 Recording Secretary and Business Representative Mark Bielicke attended the organization’s annual End-of-Year Celebration Dec. 6 at the Painters District Council 58 union hall in St. Louis to celebrate the gift. This year’s donation brings the union’s total contributions to the organization to $650,000.

“We started working with Jobs with Justice back in 2011,” said Bielicke, who currently serves as Labor co-chair for the JwJ St. Louis leadership team. “Our relationship is one that is bonded, and it has helped everybody.”

HELPED GROW ITS TEAM
Missouri JwJ Executive Director Caitlyn Adams said the continued and consistent investment from Laborers 110 has allowed it to grow its team to 25 staff members and six regions, take calculated risks for working people and expand into a truly statewide organization.

“This means more working people are making decisions about our economic security and helping build a stronger democracy,” she said. “It has helped leverage additional unrestricted resources, making it easy to say ‘yes’ when it comes to standing with workers. We can run statewide ballot campaigns and still deliver community support when workers go on strike.”

‘IMPROVING WORKERS’ LIVES’
“This investment helps us deploy multiple approaches to improve workers’ lives,” Adams said. “We are grateful and look forward to continued collaboration and organizing opportunities.”
