Tradeswomen and women considering careers in the construction industry can sharpen their skills and learn new ones at one of Missouri Women in Trades upcoming volunteer workdays.
For each event, MOWIT partners with another 501(c)3 organization to provide quality construction services for free. Women are encouraged to bring PPE and hand tools, if available and lunch is provided.
“The workdays provide tradeswomen a chance to network and skill-up and offer a wonderful opportunity for women in the public to get some tools in their hands in a safe, supportive fun environment,” said MOWIT President Aly Martinez. “Additionally, these workdays allow us to support other organizations in our area. We create community by giving to the community.”
SCHEDULED WORKDAYS
This year’s remaining workdays include:
• Carpenter’s Joint Apprenticeship School – April 29: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. MOWIT is partnering with Carpenters’ Sisterhood in the Brotherhood and the Apprenticeship Training Program for a workday to build free Narcan distribution boxes. • Camp Wyman – May 7: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 13: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and May 20: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will be will focusing on the demolition of fencing and a concrete ramp and reinstalling new fences and an accessible ramp. • Flance Early Childhood Learning Center – July 22: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and July 29: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. MOWIT is partnering with LitShop to focus on building outdoor learning experiences through art boards, a sensory path and an outdoor classroom space.
