Local 420 teachers: ‘Back Off Our Benefits’

MEMBERS OF TEACHERS LOCAL 420 voiced their demand for congressional protection of hard-earned benefits for workers and veterans at the union’s regular meeting last week. The teachers were inspired by a recent cross-country “Back Off Our Benefits” bus tour organized by Courage for America. The tour gathered support from California to Washington, D.C., for a national outcry to demand that Congress protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and veterans’ benefits from Republican plans to cut the programs. – Kevin Madden photo
