Machinists do Scouts a good turn

Scouting for FoodBridgeton, MO – On behalf of all Machinists District 9 members, union officials helped kick off the St. Louis Metro Area’s 2014 Scouting for Food drive last month. Receiving food items on behalf of the Greater St. Louis Area Council Boy Scouts of America (front row, from left) Scouts Adam Wheeler and Michael Hill of Troop 506 in St. Charles County were accompanied by (back row, from left) Assistant Scout Master Mark Wheeler, Lodge 41 Secretary-Treasurer Stephen Branson, Lodge 1345 Secretary-Treasurer Michael Ringo, Lodge 777 Secretary-Treasurer Ted Schulte and District 9 Secretary-Treasurer Tim Young. Now in its 30th year, Scouting For Food is the region’s largest one-day food drive, supporting 500 local food pantries. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers and Explorers gathered more 1.8 million food items during this year’s collection.
