The Missouri Works Initiative, a non-profit organization sponsored and supported by the Missouri AFL-CIO, is hosting its Inaugural Topgolf (Top Contender) Tournament fundraiser March 2.

The event, which includes lunch, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Topgolf, 16851 N. Outer 40 Road, in Chesterfield. Topgolf is a popular driving range game in which players take aim at giant outfield targets with micro-chipped balls that score themselves.

“We chose Topgolf for this event because what better way to have fun in this gloomy, cold weather than inside golf, food and drink and good company?” said AFL-CIO President Jake Hummel.

LIFE-SUSTAINING EMPLOYMENT
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the initiative, which has solidified itself as a known and trusted organization to eliminate barriers for individuals seeking life-sustaining employment, Hummel said. The event will celebrate its community impact and also seek financial support to keep the programs running that provide a pipeline of skilled and diversified talent to our locals, contractors and employers.

“The initiative’s construction pre-apprenticeship and dislocated worker programs are grant-funded,” Hummel said. “It’s important to us that we draw upon as many federal and state resources as possible to carry out our community work, but the reality is that grants come with important terms and sometimes uncertain appropriations that leave some of our work without a guaranteed funding stream.”

Sponsorship levels include:
