A mouse race fundraiser for George Burroughs, a proud member of IBEW Local 1 for 30-plus years, will be held on Saturday Dec. 10.
The event will be at Epiphany of Our Lord gymnasium, 3164 Ivanhoe in St. Louis. Doors open at 6 p.m. and races begin at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 per person and includes beer, wine, soda and popcorn.
In late September, Burroughs was diagnosed with parotid gland and pancreatic cancer. The treatments will be extensive and involve surgeries, other medical procedures and medicines.
Patricia Nerviani is organizing the mouse race event and has also started a Go Fund Me Account to help the family with expenses.
“George will more than likely not be returning to work so he and his family will not only be fighting two kinds of cancer, but they will also be struggling to pay their medical and living expenses,” she wrote on the Go Fund Me page. “No amount is too small.”
