Creve Coeur, MO – A charity union soccer match between Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562 and Insulators Local 1 has raised over $12,000 for Sweet babies, which provides families with newborns clothing and other items of necessity to keep their babies warm, comfortable and safe when they leave the hospital.
The union members took to the field Oct. 14 at Creve Coeur Soccer Complex. Insulators Local 1 won the match. But it was Sweet Babies that walked away with the win thanks to donations from both locals and their members as well as the Local 562 Retirees Club.
“This charity is a special one here in St. Louis and provides over 400 sleepers in just one week to moms that cannot afford any clothes for their babies once they are born,” Local 562 shared on its Facebook page. “When a mom gives birth and does not have any other support, Sweet Babies steps in with their ‘Sweet Babies Bags’ that give a mother around 30 items.”
