The Salvation Army’s Tree of Lights campaign has begun for the 2023 holiday season.

The Tree of Lights campaign goal for 2023 is $7.2 million, which will aid individuals and families in Missouri and Illinois. Every dollar raised supports The Salvation Army’s programs and services, such as addiction recovery, homelessness, food insecurity, and other critical needs.

Unions or union members who want to volunteer to ring collection bells can do so by visiting www.registertoring.com.

This year’s campaign is co-chaired by former St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith and local talk show host Yolonda Lankford.

“The Tree of Lights symbolizes hope and giving,” Smith said in a statement. “Every contribution, big or small, kindles brighter possibilities for our neighbors who face tough times. We are united in this cause, and we believe the spirit of St. Louis is stronger than ever this season.”

MORE THAN A SYMBOL
“The Tree of Lights campaign is more than a holiday symbol; it embodies hope for those in need,” said Major Adam Moore, St. Louis Metro Area Commander for The Salvation Army. “Each light on this tree shines as a beacon of our community’s generosity and the impactful changes we can achieve together.”

“The Tree of Lights is a symbol of our city’s commitment to supporting each other,” St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones said at a ceremony Nov. 18 in Kiener Plaza kicking off this year’s effort. “This event by The Salvation Army plays a pivotal role in bringing joy and assistance to those who need it most during the holiday season,” she said.
