The St. Louis Labor Council has endorsed Committeeman Paul Fehler for Eighth Ward Alderman in the special election Feb. 13 to replace former Alderman Stephen Conway, who is now serving as St. Louis City Assessor.

“Paul Fehler will be a great ally in the fight for workers’ rights in City Hall,” Labor Council President Pat White said.

“We need strong voices to stand up for decent wages and jobs that allow for our members’ families to thrive and for our city’s economy to prosper. Paul’s dedication as an ally for hard-working residents all across St. Louis demonstrates the type of leadership we should expect of public officials.”

Fehler lives in the Shaw Neighborhood with his wife Nadia and son Henry.

He previously served as a vice president of the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association, chair of the Safety Committee and was elected as Democratic Committeeman in the 8th Ward.

Fehler’s commitment to serving the needs of the entire city earned him the FOCUS St. Louis “What’s Right with the Region” award for “Improving Racial Equality” for his documentary film “The Pruitt-Igoe Myth.
