Stagehands picket Awakening Events show at Skyview Drive-In

BELLEVILLE, IL – Stagehands (IATSE) Local 6 picketed non-union Awakening Events for paying substandard wages on a Casting Crowns show Sept. 17 at the Skyview Drive-In. Stagehands and other entertainment and event industry workers have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, with live shows and events canceled across the country since March, said Michael Beckman, business manager for Local 6. Awakening Events, a Christian music act promoter, charged $100 to $175 per car for last week’s show but refused to hire even one local union stagehand for the event, Beckman said. – Stagehands Local 6 photo
