Starbucks Workers United is bringing customers into its fight to unionize the coffee giant with a petition drive, urging customers to sign on to a petition to Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan demanding the company stop union busting.

In less than two years, workers at over 350 Starbucks stores have organized to have a voice on the job to advocate for better pay, scheduling and other demands.

In response, Starbucks has waged a union-busting campaign — firing workers, closing locations and denying benefits.

Thursday, Sept. 14, was a day of action with Starbucks employees holding visibility and signature gathering events in St. Louis and across the country. The petitions will be delivered to Starbucks headquarters to make sure the company sees how many customers are demanding action.

Missouri Jobs with Justice joined Starbucks workers in solidarity actions to collect signatures at the Starbucks at 4656 Maryland Ave. and  6622 Chippewa St.

Other actions were planned by Fight for $15 (and a union) at the Starbucks at 212 S. Grand, and the Trans & GNC SUPPORT GROUP at the Starbucks 7640 Delmar Blvd. in University City.
