Street cleanup will follow Juneteenth rally Saturday, June 18

Saturday, June 18, everyone is invited to the third annual Coalition of Black Trade Unionist (CBTU) Day of Action with a short rally at 10 a.m. followed by a public service effort – cleaning up a section of Martin Luther King Drive immediately after the rally.

The rally will begin at the St. Louis Urban League parking lot at 1408 N. Kingshighway.

The event is being sponsored by the St. Louis CBTU Under 40 Leaders Committee, according to St. Louis CBTU President Jay Ozier and CBTU President Emeritus Lew Moye.

Operation Brightside St. Louis will provide the necessary tools, gloves and trash bags.

Everyone planning on attending is asked to call Damini Melvin at 804-683-1683 or send an email to cbtustl@gmail.com so adequate tools and supplies can be provided.

The event is in honor of the Juneteenth National Independence Day on June 19, which celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863.
