Tri-County Labor Club asking for grocery gift cards rather than food donations this year

The Tri-County Labor Club is hosting its annual holiday food drive again this year, but with a change to accommodate health concerns related to the coronavirus.

Instead of collecting food items, the Labor Club’s executive board is asking members to purchase gift cards at the grocery store. The cards will be presented to Dardene Elementary School, where more than half of the students qualify for the free or reduced breakfast and lunch program.

“If you normally donate $5 or $10 worth of food for the drive, just get that amount in a gift card,” said Club President Steve Bailey. “We will present the cards to Dardenne Elementary School on Dec. 2.”

Club members or anyone who would like to donate may drop the cards in the Tri-County Labor Club mail slot (door marked #11) at 10 Droste Road, St. Charles, MO 63301.

Gift cards may also be given to any of the Tri-County Labor Club Executive Board members before Dec.1.
