Labor support growing

United Food & Commercial Workers Local 655 is the latest union to endorse Lucas Kunce, Democrat, for U.S. Senate.

In a statement released May 12, Local 655 President David Cook stressed that Kunce understands what it means to fight for workers:

“Working people in Missouri deserve a U.S. Senator who sides with them, not with rich donors and extremists. UFCW Local 655 — the largest private-sector local union in the state — is proud to support Lucas Kunce in his race for the United States Senate.

“Missouri is the Show-Me state, and Lucas has already served this country as a Marine. He has shown us what it means to fight for the people, and we look forward to sending him to Washington D.C. to fight for hard-working Missouri families.”

Local 655’s endorsement adds to the following major St. Louis area unions that have endorsed Kunce: Asbestos Workers Local 1, Sprinkler Fitters Local 268, Bricklayers Administrative District Council, Bricklayers Local 1, Tile Setters Local 18 and Roofers Local 2.

Additionally, the Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents 21 AFL-CIO building trades unions, has announced its endorsement.

“The Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council is proud to be among the first to endorse Lucas Kunce. Our time with Kunce has left us consistently impressed and with the distinct impression that he understands the seriousness of the issues facing not only our members, but our nation, in a way that is unique and born out of the lived experience of someone from a true working-class background,” said Business Manager Ralph Oropeza. “Like so many of our members, Kunce is a veteran who knows what it means to selflessly serve our nation. We look forward to working to get him into a position to serve again — this time as U.S. Senator from Missouri.”
