For seven years, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 88 has taken part in the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night fund-raiser at Forest Park to fight blood-borne cancers by providing grilled brats, hot dogs, chips and drinks for all participants at no charge.

This year, due to COVID-19, Local 88 organizers have decided to forego the food tent and instead host a fund-raising campaign to support Light the Night, with a goal of raising of $50,000.

Sponsorship levels are Bronze – $250; Silver – $500; Gold – $1,000; or Platinum – $2,000.

“We will continue to support this cause any way we can,” Local 88 President Dan Telle said. “Our ability to raise money has been greatly diminished by the elimination of our food tent. Therefore, we are asking all our partners to please consider donating generously this year to this very important cause.

“Great headway has been made on curing these diseases but there is still much work to be done,” Telle said. “Please come together to bring light to the darkness of cancer.”
