A “Union Blitz” COVID-19 vaccination effort to get shots into the arms of union members and their families delivered shots to more than 800 union members over the past three weeks at Machinists District 9 hall, 12365 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton.
The union vaccination effort started when nearly 500 Machinists and spouses were vaccinated on April 15, followed by another 300 union members and spouses who received their initial vaccinations on April 20 and April 27.
The “Union Blitz” program started with a highly successful initial vaccination effort by Machinists District 9 for its members and spouses held on April 15 at the District 9 Hall.
The effort was then picked up by the St. Louis Labor Council and St. Louis Building Trades Council in coordination with Fire Fighters Local 2665 and the Pattonville Fire Protection District.
St. Louis Labor Council President Pat White said some 300 union members and their spouses signed up for the clinics on April 20 and 27, and others turned out after learning about the program.
White said additional clinics likely will not be needed as most union members who have been unable to get their shots at other mass vaccination clinics set up throughout the St. Louis metro area have now been vaccinated.
Pictured are just a few of the hundreds of union members and their families who were able to get vaccinated.
