Union hockey event to help homeless vets

Granite City – The Metro Union Hockey Club will take on an acknowledged tough foe, the Fighting Amish of Southern Illinois, in its annual fund-raising game on Friday, Feb. 28.

This will be the fourth annual fund-raiser for the Metro Union club. All proceeds will be donated to the Joseph Center (Eagle’s Nest) for homeless veterans. So far, the club and its partners have raised $3,650 for Metro-East non-profits.

As before, the game will be held in the Granite City Park Ice Rink, at 2900 Benton St., from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the southwest corner of Wilson Park. The evening will include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and special tee shirts for sale. The winner will get a Bragging Rights trophy.
