A construction career expo geared specifically toward women is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
The event, which coincides with National Women in Construction Week, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the St. Louis County American Legion Post 111 and St. Louis Service Women’s Post 404 at 7300 Landsdowne Ave. in Shrewsbury, Mo. Female veterans are encouraged to attend.
Missouri Women in Trades (MOWIT), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women enter and succeed in careers in the building trades, is sponsoring the event. It is partnering with the St. Louis Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, the Construction Forum and American Legion Posts 404 & 111.
All participants will receive information on a variety of construction apprenticeship programs and building trades career opportunities. Brief presentations are scheduled at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. Tradeswomen will be at the event to share experiences and to provide mentoring.
