The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) St. Louis Chapter is offering free rides to the polls for early voting and on Election Day.

Offered through APRI’s “Souls to the Polls” program, rides are available for St. Louis City and County residents on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m. through Oct. 29.

Masks and temperature checks are required and no more than two passengers per household are allowed in each vehicle in observance of health guidance related to the coronavirus.

Keith Robinson, president of the APRI St. Louis Chapter said APRI normally offers rides to the polls on Election Day, but decided to expand the program this year with expanded early voting and absentee voting options available due to COVID-19, and to address concerns in the last primary election that some mail-in votes didn’t count.

“There was a lot of confusion about absentee and mail-in voting in the last primary election and concern that ballots weren’t counted because of something as simple as a box wasn’t checked on the envelope,” Robinson said. “We want to make sure we get as many people to the polls as possible to make sure their vote counts.”

APRI will offer free rides on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
