Bridgeton, MO – Pledging their support for workers’ issues, two staunchly Democratic candidates met earlier this week with the St. Louis Labor Council’s executive board to discuss their qualifications for election.

Lucas Kunce is running for the U.S. Senate seat of retiring Roy Blunt. Vicki Englund is running for the open St. Louis County Council District 3 seat being vacated by Councilman Tim Fitch (R).

Kunce proudly noted he won’t be controlled by any special interest group because his campaign is not taking their money. In fact, his grassroots campaign has outraised the entire field of corporate-backed candidates in the Missouri U.S. Senate race with the average donation being $36. “It’s time to change the power in Washington so that common folks have a voice, which I represent.”

Englund says it’s time to stop playing politics on the County Council and instead work toward passing legislation that helps County residents meet the many challenges they are facing.

Englund, the daughter of a union machinist, served two terms as a state representative from South St. Louis County.
