St. Charles – IBEW Local 1 is picketing at EPC’s national headquarters at 3941 Harry S. Truman Blvd. in St. Charles to alert the public that the computer sales, service and recycling company is using a non-AFL-CIO affiliated, Local 57 electrical contractor at its new location in Wright City, Mo.

Electrical work at the new 104,000 square-foot building at 100 S. Stringtown Road is being performed by Higgins Electric, an employer that pays far below the area standard wage and benefit package established by local electricians.

“We believe that employers like Higgins Electric – which cut wages and benefits – reduce the earning power of all working people and contribute to a situation that ultimately affects us all,” said Local 1 Business Representative Ken Landwehr.

Local 1 electricians Tom Crotty (left) and Shawn Benefiel recently passed out fliers at the St. Charles location asking the public to consider this information when making a decision to patronize EPC. The company sells used or refurbished computers, laptops and printers and provides IT services.

Local 1 is also asking fellow union members to voice their opinion by calling Daniel Fuller, EPC’s president, at 636-443-1999 and demanding that the company use a first-rate electrical contractor that pays area standard wages and benefits. For more information, call Landwehr or Local 1 Business Representative Rob Dussold at 314-647-5900.
