IBEW Local 1439 is hosting its 27th Annual Tom Kraus Memorial Golf Tournament on May 20 to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge.

The event, which has raised more than $100,000 over the years, honors the memory of former Local 1439 Business Manager Tom Kraus, who passed away from cancer in March 1996. The tournament is open to the public with spaces for 128 golfers.

“Charity golf tournaments are very much dependent upon sponsors and individual donations to be successful,” Local 1439 Business Manager Jeremy Pour wrote in a letter to golfers and sponsors on behalf of the union’s Golf Committee. “You truly make the difference.”

This year’s tournament will begin with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start at Forest Park Golf Course, 5595 Grand Drive, in St. Louis. The entry fee is $100 per person or $400 per four-person team and includes cart, green fees, donuts, juice and coffee and lunch in the Champions Room at Forest Park. Skins and mulligans will be available, and there will be awards for Closest to the Hole, first and second place in A and B flights.

Sponsorships are also available and range from $100 to $5,000.

To register, make checks payable and mail to IBEW Local 1439, 2121 59th St., St. Louis, Mo. 63110. For more information, contact the Union office at 314-644-6111.
