In Memoriam: Carpenters Local 664’s Doug Cobb

Douglas “Doug” Cobb, 54, of South Roxana, a business rep for Carpenters Local 664, Wood River, died Nov. 4, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family present. He was a 35-year member of the local and had been a business rep for five years.

Brother Cobb was born May 10, 1967 in Alton to Don and Marsha Cobb, currently of Wood River.

He graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School, where he played both basketball and baseball, becoming first team all-conference in basketball and receiving the first 110 Percent Award given by the Alton Exchange Club. He was also on the Riverbend Growth Association board of directors.

Brother Cobb enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, Lucas of East Alton and Jacob of Bethalto, and camping, especially at Montauk State Park. He also is survived by his “significant other” of more than 20 years, Julie Chapman of South Roxana and her parents, James and Mildred Chapman of Wood River; grandchildren Hayden, Lila, Brody, Hazel and Hank; and sisters Julie Rollins of Roselle, Kathy Twichell of Alton and Amy Daugherty of Wood River.

A memorial visitation was held at the East Alton Middle School gymnasium on Nov. 7. Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights handled arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Carpenters Scholarship Fund. Comments can be seen at the online guestbook is at www.paynicfh.com.
