In Memoriam: IBEW Local 1439’s Norbert ‘Bert’ Tonkovic

Norbert “Bert” Tonkovic, a member of IBEW Local 1439, passed away on Nov. 6, 2021 at age 89.

Brother Tonkovic was an active member of Local 1439 during his employment with Ameren/Missouri. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, a charter member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish, an original member of Holy Name Society, a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, an honorary life-time member of the Knights of Columbus and a board member of Feed My People and Boy Scout Troop 671.

He is survived by Susan, his wife of 65 years; his children, Deanna (Terry) Lyman; Mary Beth (Todd) Frazier; Brenda (Jay) Ritzen; Dennis (Kelly) Tonkovic; and Dawn (Tom) White; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Nov 17, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque followed by interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. He will be greatly missed and always well remembered.
